It's kinda funny, but I actually do miss Chennai at times. Those are the times when I'm sitting at home, bored out of my skull, with absolutely nothing to do. In such circumstances, Chennai presented an avenue for saving yourself, the only thing I wished I didn't have to leave. The Beach.
Yes. The Beach. Probably the only saving grace of Chennai. The rest of the city was an absolute hell hole. But, the Beach was one place where I could just go and waste hours and hours at a stretch. You had all the little necessities at your disposal. You had Verona's serving the best burgers in town, Barista with it's coffee, the various stalls on the beach with molle bhaji (Chilli Pakodas) etc. And obviously you had the fantastic surf providing you the background music to let your mind wander mindlessly.
I can't count how many times I've ended up at the beach, in various states of inebriation and sobriety. And every time the only reason I've trudged back to my house is the thought of a place to sleep.
Just in case you were getting ideas contrary to my common stand, I still hate Chennai. I just can't get to hate the beaches though.
That said, I'm already bored stiff writing about THAT city. And I have a long day ahead tomorrow, what with half of my family turning up and stuff. So, I think I'll call it a day.
Cheers!
