Ore : 9:41 AM

Well, I'm finally back home in Jaipur after a 10 day long trip to my Nana's in Ganganagar. And being the lazy fool that I am, I've just decided to go to sleep... For those of you who think I'm a sleepy head, you try travelling almost non-stop for 9 hours and see...

Cheers!

PS: G'nite Ms. Perpetually...

Family Reunion, of sorts
Thursday, December 29, 2005
Ore : 12:03 AM

Well, Dad just got to Ganganagar in the evening today, and so we're having a family reunion of sorts. That seems to include all of the usual kowtowing and jamai bhawa by my grandparents, which is rather funny... I mean, just the basic scene of "aap baithiye... nahin nahin, aap baithiye" to ad infinitum is kinda funny. Especially when it comes to a draw, with neither side giving way...

But then there's also this thing about family reunions, when you can be with the people closest to you and just chilling out. Not to mention the amazing pampering lavished on you by grandparents :)

Have to get back to the real, cruel world tomorrow, where it's every man for himself. No more grandparents doting at your beck and call, nobody to protect you from punishment for various misdemeanours and so on... But then it also means that atleast I'll have SOMETHING to do, apart from timing when the electricity is gonna come back or which book to re-re-read.

I still don't have any company for New Year's Eve. Invitations have been answered with a "Umm.. I haven't decided yet.. I don't even know if I'm gonna be in town.." and similars. If anybody wants passes to the Rambagh or Country Inn parties, kindly contact me.

Lunch calls and I have to move butt.

Cheers!

Edit::

PS: I still have no company for New Years. Which means I most definitely have unnecessary passes to Rambagh and/or Country Inn. Meh...

W00t!! No Pilani!!
Monday, December 26, 2005
Ore : 7:48 AM

Ah! My problem has been postponed... For the time being atleast. I now have to present myself in the (till now) esteemed campus of CEERI only next month. So, I can look forward to alteast a decent New Year bash. That is of course, assuming that someone from my miniscule friends' circle decides to grace me with their company. I have sent out requests and have my fingers crossed.

I'm calling it a day now. Have been on driver detail for my Mom and Nani all day, and amm insanely tired. Goodbye world.

Cheers!

PS: Ms. Perpetually, in case you read this, kindly endeavour to turn up on New Year's Eve. PARTY!!!

New Year Plans
Sunday, December 25, 2005
Ore : 8:30 AM

I'm still here freezing in Ganganagar. Yes, I know that line's starting to get rather repititve, but what to do? Thats the only thing worth mentioning while I'm here.

Now, I'm probably gonna have one of the weirdest New Year celebration ever. It's called a Working New Year. Yes, thats right. Yours truly is finally headed off to Pilani to start work on his blasted project. Tentative plan is to get my ass there by the 28th and stay for 20 odd days or so.

I won't be missing any parties either, since nobody I know, or want to party with, is going to be around. Hence, given the fact that I'd be having a lonely New Year, I decided to go ahead with the project thing. Thus.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas, in your own way. Someone I know has gone and done something rather different and gone for a Hanukkah party! Details of that will surface here as soon as I hear of them.

Cheers!

Same ol' same ol'
Friday, December 23, 2005
Ore : 8:09 AM

Still in Ganganagar. Bored. Nothing to do. Same as yesterday. Nothing interesting to talk about either since my brain cells (whats left of them) are frozen solid in a state of suspended animation. God, I hate the cold.

The only interesting thing I saw today was a rolling fog. And by rolling, I mean actually, visibly moving at a rather fast pace. Damned thing was nearly as fast as my car. And the blasted visibility was down to no more than 2 feet. Horrendous!

Cheers!

PS: She's kinda talking to me again. Bets on how long this last are being taken. Contact me.

Ice Candy, Anyone?
Thursday, December 22, 2005
Ore : 4:00 AM

Brrr.. The first, last and only words that seem to escape my mouth the entire day. I'm freezing my ass off here in Ganganagar, which seems to be putting up a fight to Churu for the honors of the coldest city in this blasted country of ours. And to be honest, I think it might be a photo-finish. I mean, I can barely see my hand when I get up, due to the fog.

And the worst part is, I'll be facing even lower temperatures when I get to Pilani to try and complete my ill-fated project, the final nail to shut the coffin on my college degree.

I can only imagine how hard it's gonna be to work there, since that region has already posted almost 0 degree temps a few times this season. God, just thinking of that makes me feel like crawling back under the covers.

Brrr... I'd better get moving before my fingers freeze on the keyboard.

Cheers!

Out of Town
Tuesday, December 20, 2005
Ore : 2:19 AM

I'll be popping out of town for a week. Going to visit my grandparents in Ganganagar, hence might be out of touch online for a while.

My phone still WILL work though. So, whoever wants to call, can. Those who don't want to talk to me, dont.

Will try to keep this page updated as far as possible. No guarantees though. The place isn't quite known for its infotech infrastructure, more for its proximity to Pakistan. Meh.

All for now then.

Cheers!

First Contact
Monday, December 19, 2005
Ore : 7:13 AM

Hmmm.... first contact with Wipro established. Some guy sends me an e-mail containing a lot of introduction horse-s***. That, and a spreadsheet to be filled in with certain details regarding my project. I wonder why they're so interested all of a sudden. The call letters have reached the college, and me being too lazy to get it, are staying there.

Damn, I think I just might have to make a trip to Chennai sometime next year. Sob.

Cheers!

Home, Bored
Sunday, December 18, 2005
Ore : 10:33 PM

At home, sitting bored as is usual. Just wondering what I'll be doing for the next 8 months or so until I get chained to my cubicle.

I do have a project to finish by April, but am too lazy to get it started. The thought of working in Pilani, with the lowest temperatures in Rajasthan, just gives me more reasons to postpone and procrastinate on the whole thing.

No one's in town either. That means no arbid (MY WORD!!) reasons to get out of the house either. Sadness.

Its gotten so bad that I actually stare at the phone for a while, trying to figure if there's anybody I can call. And the regular list HAS shortened significantly due to reasons ranging from non-presence (?) in the country to internal rifts in the friends circle.

The only thing going for me currently is Basketball. I'm playing almost daily and seem to be shaking the rust off my jump shot and my stuck muscles. I still do miss Jhaad on court, since no one else makes me feel as comfortable while playing. Just his presence on court makes me get into the groove... Dang, have to wait another month for him to turn up!

Have to scoot now for the court. Game on!

Cheers!

Ruinous Reminiscences
Saturday, December 17, 2005
Ore : 10:32 PM

It's kinda funny, but I actually do miss Chennai at times. Those are the times when I'm sitting at home, bored out of my skull, with absolutely nothing to do. In such circumstances, Chennai presented an avenue for saving yourself, the only thing I wished I didn't have to leave. The Beach.

Yes. The Beach. Probably the only saving grace of Chennai. The rest of the city was an absolute hell hole. But, the Beach was one place where I could just go and waste hours and hours at a stretch. You had all the little necessities at your disposal. You had Verona's serving the best burgers in town, Barista with it's coffee, the various stalls on the beach with molle bhaji (Chilli Pakodas) etc. And obviously you had the fantastic surf providing you the background music to let your mind wander mindlessly.

I can't count how many times I've ended up at the beach, in various states of inebriation and sobriety. And every time the only reason I've trudged back to my house is the thought of a place to sleep.

Just in case you were getting ideas contrary to my common stand, I still hate Chennai. I just can't get to hate the beaches though.

That said, I'm already bored stiff writing about THAT city. And I have a long day ahead tomorrow, what with half of my family turning up and stuff. So, I think I'll call it a day.

Cheers!

PS: Will whoever left the comment signed "perpetually ...." please stand up?

Mixed Bag

Ore : 9:09 AM

One of those days when everything seems to be mixed up. One of those days when you're happy for a part and then sad for another part.

Happy part being getting to spend time with Tanya for a while. Even though it did mean having to get up at the unearthly time of 7 AM (It's winter, remember!!!). Went to play basketball and then it was onwards to meet Li'l Miss Fotografer and accompany her as a pseudo- tour guide cum pseudo-camera assistant. The tour guide is a very fraud designation that I'm pinning on myself, given the fact that I know almost next to nothing about the Old City area, which is where I took her. Parked the car at Johari Bazar and then legged it through Bapu Bazar onwards to Chaura Rasta.

Now, as Jaipurites (?) might know, the city isn't quite known for its shopkeepers turning up at 10AM on a winter morning (I ain't the only one!). So, obviously Bapu Bazar was this strip of sparsely occupied shopping space, and so was Chaura Rasta. As a result, onwards we marched into the various gallis around, where she found halwayis inordinately intersting. Finally after having shot some 15 odd pics, the lady decided that she'd had enough and then back we went to my li'l green Wagon Of Joy. Via a slight detour at Mr. Beans, she was finally dropped off so that she could make her way back to New Delhi.

This recent visit by Tanya seems to have stoked the perpetually burning fires in certain regions, leading to unnatural flarings of tempers. This highly ambiguous and weird line is meant for whoever understands. Also, I'm sorry.

As I mentioned before I started gushing about the morning trip and consequences, there was a bad part to the day as well. There was a death in the family in the morning. My Mom's Mamaji passed away in the morning. 'Nuff said.

Cheers!

PS: Pass on the word about this blog... Thanks!
