Curiosity and the cat

Ever wondered how or why cats are called curious? Or why bad fate is always supposed to befall them when they're curious?

Its all really funny and stuff because for some reason, I've seen people being more curious about things than the oft- noted cats. And I don't mean curious in the science or mystery way, but more in the probing and sneaking way.

I mean, nowhere in the animal kingdom do we refer to certain animals as "the neighbourhood gossip aunty" or "the peeping tom"? But, we do. How many times have slunk(?) around somewhere, just so a certain person, with boundless curiosity, doesnt spot us? Or hiding stuff just so that someone doesnt "stumble" upon it?

Why can't people just keep their noses in their own bloody backyard? Why do they have to insist on gaining information which simply isn't meant for them? The world would be so much of a better place without them.

And there is the latest fad of sting operations. Whats the point, guys? It's alright as long as they limit themselves to topics and actions of national importance. But do we really need to know about the actual "casting couch"? Or the recent "sexcapade" of the BJP Secy? I really think we'd be much better of not knowing. If nothing else, atleast we won't gross out whenever we switch on the tube or flick through a magazine.

I've been at the recieving end of these "Curious Human-Cats" and hence am naturally no big fan of theirs. Not to say that I'm not curious about things. Still, I know the limits. If someone doesn't want to tell me something, I leave it at that.

Here's to the day when everyone stays within their own domains.

Cheers!
