The Greatest Films of all Time

I've spent a lot of time sifting through innumerable lists of the greatest films of all time...notwithstanding the intensely personal and therefore subjective nature of such lists, I've also come to realise that public list-making is an exercise in political-correctness. Noone wants to be seen as the person who DIDN'T include an acknowledged classic like Citizen Kane in his/her list, no matter if said person ACTUALLY thought that Citizen Kane was a SNORE FEST!!! Or for that matter, a film like Rashomon directed by Akira Kurosawa. I admit to the technical brilliance of the film. Even the premise, that of a murder-rape, shown through the memory/version of four different people is very, very interesting. On paper. The film (barring a few really brilliant scenes), remains steadfastly boring to me. No matter how many times I try and force myself to like it, or atleast see its greatness, I just cant. Sorry Kurosawa!

Why cant film critics just be honest with themselves for a change? Everyone has secret likes for low-brow films...some of which end up becoming cult classics. So why be ashamed to admit that you find certain not-so- acclaimed films great? ! ;) Anyway, if anyone wants to post up their own list of fave films, they're more than welcome...:)
